You decide where your birthday shows up. You can show or hide your birthday and your age everywhere at once, make an exception for a single server, or remove your information from Birthday Bot completely.

How the privacy settings work

There are two settings, and each one exists at two levels.

Birthday: whether a server may celebrate your birthday and include you in its birthday list.
Age: whether a server may show how old you are turning. This only matters if you gave a birth year.

Your Default Privacy applies to every server. A per-server override replaces the default in one server only. When you first set a birthday, your birthday is shown everywhere and your age is shown nowhere.

Hiding your birthday in a server makes it look to other members, including server staff, as though you have never set a birthday. It also hides your age there. A server's staff can also turn ages off for everyone in that server, and that wins over your own setting.

Hide your birthday or age everywhere

Open My settings and find Default Privacy.
Set Show my birthday in all servers or Show my age in all servers to Hide.
Press Save changes.

Make an exception for one server

Open My settings and scroll to Per-server overrides.
Find the server. Search servers looks through all of your servers. Turn on Show servers without Birthday Bot to set a preference for a server before the bot is added to it.
Set Birthday or Age to Show or Hide. Default means the server follows your Default Privacy.
Press Save changes.

Each server's row tells you the result in plain words, for example "Your birthday is celebrated and your age stays hidden."

What hiding changes

You hide	What happens in that server
Your birthday	No birthday message and no birthday role for you. You are left out of the birthday list, and other members cannot look up your birthday. Your age is hidden too.
Your age	Your birthday is still celebrated and listed, but without your age or birth year. Messages that mention an age are not used for you.

Remove your information

On My settings, press Clear my birthday and confirm. Your birthday and time zone are removed from Birthday Bot in every server. This cannot be undone, and you can set them again whenever you like. Your privacy choices are kept, so they still apply if you come back.

Common problems

A server still shows my age. Check that server's row under Per-server overrides. An override set to Show wins over a default set to Hide.
I hid my age but cannot show it again in one server. Your age only shows where your birthday shows. Check the Birthday setting for that server too.
I do not see a server in the list. Turn on Show servers without Birthday Bot, or search for it by name.

Using Discord instead

/user settings shows your current defaults.
/user edit show_birthday and /user edit show_age change your defaults for all servers.
/user_server settings, /user_server edit show_birthday, and /user_server edit show_age do the same for the server you type them in.
/purge removes your birthday and time zone everywhere.
