Birthday Bot is missing permissions

If Birthday Bot cannot post, give a role, pin a message, create a thread, or notify a role, open the matching permission warning on the dashboard. It names what is missing and where to change it in Discord.

On the website

1. Choose your server and open Overview to see permission problems across its celebrations.
2. Open an issue to reach the affected setting, or open the warning beside that setting directly.
3. Read Missing for permissions and Reason for restrictions such as a role being too high.
4. Follow the warning's fix path in Discord. If it lists two paths joined by and, complete both.
5. Return to Overview and press ↻ Re-check.

What success looks like

A successful re-check with no remaining issues shows Permissions look good. A red warning means the affected action is blocked; an amber warning means an extra action, such as the pin or the ping, will not work. Fix red warnings first: an amber ping warning can also sit on a channel where nothing posts at all.

The bot's server role lacks a permission

Check: Look for a fix pointing to Server Settings → Roles → Birthday Bot → Permissions.

Fix: Open that path in Discord and enable the permissions the warning names. Then re-check on the website. For announcement setup, see Set up birthday celebrations.

The channel denies a permission

Check: Look for a fix pointing to the channel, then Edit Channel → Permissions → Birthday Bot. Channel permissions can prevent an action even when the server role allows it.

Fix: Change the named permission in that channel. If the warning also names a server-role fix, do both before re-checking. This applies to announcement channels and permanent lists.

A role cannot be assigned

Check: Look for Role too high, Managed, or Manage Roles in the role warning.

Fix: Move Birthday Bot above the target role, choose a role that is not managed by an integration, or grant Manage Roles, according to the warning. See The birthday role was not given or not removed, zodiac roles, or member-anniversary roles for the affected feature.

A mention appears but nobody is notified

Check: Open the warning beside Ping. A role that is not mentionable needs Birthday Bot to have Mention Everyone in the posting channel. Pings to everyone or here also need that permission.

Fix: Follow the warning to grant Mention Everyone, or use its alternative to turn on Allow anyone to @mention this role for the named role. The warning lists the mentions affected. See Set up birthday celebrations for choosing the ping and Choose who gets celebrated if trusted roles suppress it.

What are the permissions for?

The warning shows only the permissions missing for the action you chose. Create roles and channels explains the creation controls.

The website says it could not check permissions

Check: Look for Couldn't check permissions on Overview. This means the check failed, rather than confirming the bot has access.

Fix: Press ↻ Re-check to try again, or use the channel check in Discord below.

Using Discord instead

The channel-permissions command reports Birthday Bot's permissions in a selected channel. The test command refreshes checks and runs a real celebration, so it can post messages and give roles.
