Celebrate member anniversaries

Birthday Bot can celebrate the anniversary of the day each member joined your server. Choose an announcement channel to turn on messages; Premium also lets you give roles for membership milestones.

Open your server dashboard

On the website

  1. Choose your server and open Member anniversaries.
  2. Under Announcement, choose a Channel.
  3. Set Post time. Anniversaries follow the server's time zone, so check it in Server settings.
  4. Use Ping to choose who to notify. Premium servers can also change Post mode.
  5. Press Save changes.
  6. To write your own announcement, open Messages and choose Member anniversary. See Customize your messages.

What success looks like

On a member's anniversary, the bot posts in your chosen channel at the configured hour. A custom announcement could look like this:

The bot uses the join date Discord provides, so members do not need to enter a separate anniversary date. It starts celebrating after a full year, not on the day someone joins.

Can I reward members for staying?

With Premium, Milestone roles gives roles based on how many years a member has been in the server.

  1. On Member anniversaries, find Milestone roles and press + Add year.
  2. Choose the membership year, then choose a Role.
  3. Press Add role.
  4. Turn on Remove old roles if members should keep only their highest eligible milestone role. Leave it off if they should keep all the milestone roles they have earned.
  5. Press Save changes to save the page.

For example, you could offer a regular-member role after one year and a veteran role after three years. With Remove old roles on, the veteran role replaces the earlier milestone role on the day of that anniversary.

Milestone roles can work without an announcement channel. The bot still needs the server's time zone set and permission to manage the roles.

Can I keep a list of upcoming anniversaries?

Yes. Use Anniversary list on this page to create a permanent list with Premium, or browse member anniversaries with the list command in Discord. Birthday lists covers both kinds of list.

Common problems

  • The anniversary was posted on the wrong day or hour. Join dates and announcements use the server's clock. Check A message was posted at the wrong time.
  • A milestone role was not given. Check the role warnings on the dashboard, then Missing permissions. A member who already qualifies can use the role-claim command below. Claiming adds their highest milestone role but never removes an older one, even with Remove old roles on.
  • Some members do not get an announcement. Review Choose who gets celebrated for the trusted-role settings.
  • Milestone controls are locked. They need Premium for this server. If you have already bought it, see Premium activation.

Using Discord instead

The editing command changes announcement settings. The configuration command controls whether older milestone roles are removed. The milestone commands manage and list year-based roles; the claim command lets members collect roles they already qualify for.
